enrichment fuels opportunity

Our wrestling community extends beyond athletics to include the programming and opportunities a young person needs to become a Life Champion. From formal academies, drop-in centers, and special events to individualized services for individual wrestlers, our enrichment programming meets youth where they are and invites them to work towards where they need to go.

academic enrichment

Four red six pointed star

Enrichment opportunities range from drop-in "homework help" centers to camps and workshops to individual tutoring in specific subjects. All are available to all Beat the Streets Chicago wrestlers.

Specific programs may vary by location.

After School Center

Daily after-school drop-in centers bridge the time from when school lets out to when wrestling practice begins for registered wrestlers. Wrestlers will find healthy snacks, homework help, supervised activities, and friendship.

Customized Enrichment and Special Events

Four red six pointed star

The “student-athlete” is only part of the story. Beyond school and sports, we are a place to belong. We are a trusted community that wraps its arms around each wrestler to determine and resource what they (and their families) need. Beyond academics, “enrichment” to us means anything from lock-ins, birthday parties and college visits to advocating with outside services to meet basic human needs.

Accountability Squads

How do we know what our wrestlers need? Wrestlers who have shown the willingness to work towards being their best selves are assigned to individual coaches. Each coach mentors an “accountability squad” of wrestlers and is responsible for regular check-ins with each to make sure needs are identified and no one falls through the cracks. This is part of our DNA, available to all wrestlers, not a program you "sign up for."

360 Wrestlers

"Three-sixty" is a culture, not a program. We expect our coaches, tutors and adult leaders to build relationships with all of our wrestlers to determine who needs what kind of support in their Life Champion journeys. That information is passed along to our Enrichment Team. When we find ourselves working with a wrestler and their family year-round, offering customized and often intensive wrap-around support, we call that a "360 Wrestler" relationship. This level of engagement and enrichment is available to all members of our community.
